CIMA+ is currently seeking applications for an Intermediate Electrical Technologist in P&C from qualified individuals who are interested in supporting our T&D Electrical Engineering group in Regina, Saskatchewan. This is a Intermediate level position to be performed by an Electrical Engineering Technologist that has strong interest in engineering, such as detailed P&C design for Transmission and Distribution station projects as well as working in collaboration with other junior/intermediate technical engineering staff and resources required to meet project goals. This is a challenging position that requires excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and resource collaboration skills.


Work with 2D software design and drafting tools (Elecdes, Autocad, Microstation) to preform Protection and control Station engineering for Public Utilities and industrial customers in the T&D sectors. The main tasks are the following:

  • Under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, perform design and drafting of electrical Protection, Control and Metering systems, including single lines, logic diagrams, 3 line diagrams, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, Bill of Materials, cable list, wire tag, AC & DC auxiliary power system;
  • Design and drafting complex protection scheme utilizing multifunction intelligent relays;
  • Prepare drawings and material requisitions based on customer's specifications or standards;
  • Prepare AC and DC load calculations and battery sizing;
  • Conducting field work including investigations, and inspections to suit the design and construction of electrical systems;
  • Coordinate design work with other disciplines, other offices and other project team members;
  • Prepare technical specifications relative to Protection & Control system elements;
  • Prepare Construction scope description, list of deliverables, etc.


  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution;
  • 6 to 12 years of experience in P&C design for electrical power system for utility and/or industrial application;
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering concepts and principles to suit utilities and industrial applications;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Knowledge with Autocad and Elecdes softwares is an asset;
  • Knowledge of IEC 61850 communication standard is an asset;
  • Capability in working in a multi-disciplinary project team environment;
  • Possesses a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan driver's license or Canadian equivalent.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Microsoft Office and other software applications;
  • Good team player attitude;
  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology;
  • Ability to integrate new technologies into daily work processes.
