Our client who is a Regina based consulting company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its team. As a member of the management team, the senior accountant acts as a mini controller ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial and management reports as well as providing management with information to assist in operational decision-making.

Responsibilities include:

The senior accountant is responsible to record all general ledger transactions and to ensure they are reasonable, investigating any discrepancies. The successful candidate must possess thorough knowledge of QuickBooks, Payroll (for approx. 25 to 35 employees) including all reporting requirements, GST reporting, PST reporting, WCB reporting, accounts receivable, holdbacks, accounts payable and balancing intercompany accounts monthly, and be computer proficient using keyboard as well as operation of Word and Excel. Other duties include ensuring all Government reporting is on time and accurate, ensuring invoicing completed in a timely manner in accordance with contracts, following up on outstanding accounts receivable, and administration of benefits program. The senior accountant is also responsible to provide the external accountants with information to complete the Year End Financial Statements and Corporation Returns.

The senior accountant will provide commentary to explain financial results and be able to pre-empt potential questions from management. The senior accountant will interact regularly with the management team to support their needs and understand the operations of the company.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have 5-10 years accounting experience and will have completed a designation (CPA, CGA, CMA or possess equivalent knowledge). You will have demonstrated the ability to identify and resolve issues both individually and as a member of a team. Experience in a mid to large sized organization in a broad accounting role. A driven and enthusiastic approach to your work is needed to be successful in this fast paced and interactive opportunity.
